07.09.2022  VISIT OF STUDENTS AND STAFF OF MOUNT CARMEL SCHOOL

The Students and Staff of Mount Carmel School paid us a visit to handover groceries and a donation on the occasion of the feast of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
We offer our heartfelt thanks for the noble gesture of the students and the Management to have thought about the less fortunate.

27.08.2022 VISIT BY THE STUDENTS OF ST ALOYSIUS PU COLLEGE

The students of St Aloysius Pre-University College took time out to visit the White Doves Psychiatric Nursing and Destitute Home.

For most of the students it was the first visit to White Doves and they were introduced to the works that White Doves is involved in.

The students presented their talents through song and dance and they entertained our inmates.

The students handed over grocery items and food items as part of their contribution to the inmates.
24.08.2022 RAVI REUNITED

RAVI
who was picked up from the streets on 23.10.2021 was longing to return home to his wife and child. Due to the efforts of our Manager, Jerald, his family residing in Mysore was located and informed that Ravi was under the care of White Doves.

His wife and daughter were so excited and wanted to view Ravi on a video call.
The very next day they boarded a bus and reached Mangalore .
Ravi returned to his family on 24.08.2022






23.08.2022 TWINS BEAUTY PARLOUR EXTEND THEIR SERVICES TO THE INMATES OF WHITE DOVES

Grooming day today.

22.08.2022 ICYM OF OMZOOR CHURCH'S VISIT TO WHITE DOVES

Beautiful Sunday......... The ICYM youth of Oomzoor church spent time  interacting with the inmates playing games, singing, dancing, action songs and brought a whole lot of goodies and provisions .

15.08.2022 INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Independence day was celebrated with patriotic fervour at White Doves .
Holy Mass on the occasion of the Assumption of Mother Mary into Heaven was celebrated at 07.30 A.M, followed by the National Flag hoisting to renew our patriotism towards our country. Dr. Christopher Pais was the Chief Guest on the occasion. The other guests of Honour were Mr Simon C.A. (SP, ACB),          Mr Sunil Baliga (Senior Accountant, Accountant General's Office) and        Rev Fr. Anil Dsouza.

Breakfast was followed by games, dance, DJ music by DJ Kiran.

Gifts were distributed to the inmates.

The celebrations were special this year as we were joined by the special children of Riya Foundation.
15.08.2022 ALICIA GOVEAS' PAINTING UNVEILED AT WHITE DOVES

Alicia Goveas
the highly acclaimed artist based in Dubai flew down with her parents Charles and Olinda Goveas and sister Stephanie to gift White Doves this beautiful painting on our wall with a strong message " Somewhere inside all of us is the power to change the world".
She was assisted by another artist from Mangalore Malaika Sequeira daughter of the famous photographer Vivek and Venitha Sequeira.

14.08.2022 VISIT BY THE RESIDENTS OF RIYA FOUNDATION

Celebrating Raksha  Bhandan and bringing in the spirit of patriotism by the Residents of Riya Foundation at White Doves.  

I salute Kirthana Madam, Mr Ashley Fernandes and their staff for their dedicated service to these precious children of God.

They brought to our residents so much joy as they tied the Rakhis and pinned the beautifully crafted National Flag and danced for our Residents.

We are well connected with Riya Foundation as one of our child needed special attention and she was moved to Riya while her brother remained with us.
Today it was very special for the brother and sister to meet and greet each other.

Big thank you to residents, management and staff of Riya Foundation.
11.08.2022 VISIT BY STUDENTS OF YENEPOYA MSW COLLEGE

Students of MSW Yenepoya college performing an entertainment program for our residents.

05.08.2022 MAHESHWARI RESCUED

A late night rescue today.  Got a call from the police informing us of a lady wandering around in the bus stand since afternoon and who seems mentally unsound.
We went to bring her in and she did resist in the beginning and wanted to know if we were police.
On reaching White Doves the staff began the grooming, a hot water bath, new clothes, a hot dinner and off she was sent to bed.
As per the details provided by the police her name is Maheshwari , Husband's name Srinivas and she's from Kundamadalam in Andhra Pradesh.
We will have to start looking for her family.
28.07.2022 VIJAY KUMAR RESCUED

Another brother joins our family at White Doves. Vijay Kumar says he's a driver he lost all his belonging when in transit in Mangalore. Now he seems to have lost his mind. Hope he recovers soon. We were told by the good Samaritan Jeevan that he has been living in the bus stand since three months.
Vijay Kumar is a native of Andhra Pradesh.

At first he was diffident and resisted our attempts to coax him into coming with us since he has a habit of eating tobacco.
Once he saw the White Doves environment he sobered down and knew he was in safe hands.
It will take some time for him to be weaned of his tobacco addiction.
28.07.2022  DHANANJAY RESCUED

Dhananjay was walking on the Pumpwell-Nanthur Highway muttering to himself. Social worker Jeevan Dsouza contacted us asking if White Doves could rescue the person.
He has not yet revealed from where he is and when asked where he is going to he says that wherever I have to go I will go.
He is mentally depressed and will be helped to overcome his condition in due course
27.07.2022 MEDICAL CAMP CONDUCTED BY THE ZILLA PANCHAYATH & THE PRIMARY HEALTH CENTRE, PADIL

Medical camp was organized by the Zilla Panchayath and the PHC-Padil wherein all our residents were subjected to Blood Tests, General Checkup and their vision too was tested.

We thank the organizers and the personnel involved for their services.
10.07.2022 NEW INMATE - NAME NOT REVEALED

This young man was found by a good Samaritan, soaked in urine and rain water, at Maroli and is mentally unwell.

He must have walked many, many miles in the rain so has his feet all cracked and open .

White Doves team rushed to bring in the young man speaks in Malayalam but is not coherent in his speech.

He is being nursed back to health.
06.07.2022 VISIT BY TIBETIAN STUDENTS TO CELEBRATE HIS HOLINESS THE DALAI LAMA'S BIRTHDAY

Every year the Tibetan students in Mangalore visit White Doves bringing goodies.

They were here this time, though in a smaller number, to celebrate the  87th birthday of their Religious Leader His Holiness, The Dalai Lama and distributed snacks on the occasion.

A happy lot. Always sharing and showing they  care. God bless them.
25.06.2022  FIRST VISIT TO WHITE DOVES BY Mr MARTIN ARANHA

Blest to have Philanthropist and our great support Mr Martin Aranha and his charming wife Mrs Philomena Aranha on their first visit to White Doves.
They sponsored an entire female ward. 
His simplicity and humility touches us all.

25.06.2022 FIELD VISIT BY FR MULLER COLLEGE OF NURSING B.Sc. STUDENTS
Fr Muller's Bsc nursing students visited White Doves today.

Corrine Rasquinha briefed them about the institution, the works that are undertaken, the running of the institution and they were shown around the campus.

They conducted entertainment programmes and games  for the inmates.

We thank them for all the joy they brought to the inmates.
04.06.2022  BITOO RESCUED FROM THE STREETS
Bitoo from Bihar made his home in one of the bus stands at Red Building Road. A social worker,Jeethan Dsouza, had watched him living there since 15 days and also told us he was beaten and robbed of his money. Responding to this call the White Doves team reached out to Bitoo. Initially he thought he was going to be beaten or robbed and took to his heels. The Samaritan Jeevan got hold and brought him to White Doves in an auto. God bless him and the auto driver.
Now Bitoo feels the warmth and love extended to him at White Doves.
He has an addiction to beedis which we have to help him overcome.
31.05.2022  FR MULLER COLLEGE OF NURSING STUDENTS VISIT WHITE DOVES.
The II year BSc Nursing Students and Staff of Fr. Muller College of Nursing, Kankanady, Mangalore visited the White Doves Psychiatry Nursing and Destitute Home  for an observational visit as part of their curricular requirement.
Identifying the vison, mission and origin of the institution, admission criteria, staffing pattern, financial aid, care and facilities provided to the residents, activities carried out for the residents and brief on health provisions and consultations for the residents were the topics touched upon.
09.05.2022 PADUA YOUTH RED CROSS VISITS WHITE DOVES
The Youth Red Cross wing of Padua College gave a cultural program and shared their love with the residents.
Thank you Principal, staff and students of Padua college for your generosity. You surely brought smiles on the faces of our residents.

They also donated grocery items and toiletries for the residents.
30.03.2022 DEEPAK JOINS WHITE DOVES
Deepak’s  story goes like this: he says he met with a train accident and lost one arm and had head injuries and also lost his hearing. Now he cannot walk as he says some vehicle ran over his leg.

Seeing his miserable state everyone was giving him money and he would drag himself to buy liquor and be dead drunk.

We hope he reforms himself while at White Doves.
24.03.2022 MARTINA MERTIN’S VISIT
Wonderful meeting Martina Mertin,a global health journalist, and her daughter all the way from Germany along her official photographer from Bangalore and of course accompanied by Mr. Jardine Dsouza.
She's is conducting a study of the old age care around the world.
It was nice to see the little daughter so interested in her mother's work and asking many questions about the residents of White Doves.
I wish Martina the very best.
She is also associated with the Bill Gates and Melinda foundation. She is a world influencer and her reports are sought and acted upon by the Governments.
19.03.2022 MOHANA RESCUED
White Doves got a call  from a friend about this man lying  by the roadside at Karangalpady since many days and so we headed there to find Mohana wounded, messy and also drunk,

He can speak Tulu so he must be from  somewhere close-by.

He is malnourished and mostly skin and bone. He has a injured hand that needs care to heal.
12.03.2022 MOHAMMAD IQBAL RESCUED
Today's new addition Mohammad Iqbal. Our staff had been seeing this man lying on the road side near the Kadri water pumping station talking to himself and rolling on the ground.
He cannot remember from where he is and all he knows is his name. Keeps repeating his name when asked. He has tears in his eyes.
He cannot believe he was going to be loved and cared for. He is just looking up and pointing to the power above and crying with tears of joy.
May the Lord heal him and restore him to his family.
You never know what a person has gone through to reach this state in life.
06.03.2022 SURESH FROM KERALA FINDS SHELTER AT WHITE DOVES
Suresh from Kerala was spotted by a friend of White Doves, Mr Ivan Saldanha. He has been lying for weeks together near Forum Mall. Team White Doves reached out to Suresh.
White Doves recognised him as he was a beneficiary of our food distribution from the 2020 lockdown days till recently when he stopped coming for his food as he was unable to walk.
He's regained his strength since he's joined the White Doves family and is happy to be safe.
06.03.2022 DEEPAK HANDED OVER BY THE POLICE
Got a call from the Kankanady Police Station  requesting to help a young boy found on the streets.
Deepak says he was picked up by Child welfare committee when he was little from the streets of Delhi and grew up in a government hostel.  Then he said he was in Don Bosco's home in Bangalore and  he doesnt reveal how he landed in Mangalore.
He speaks English and the sad thing is he cannot remember any names and he's full of fear. Even just touching him. brings shivers and fear to him.
Don't know what's really happened to him. We will know eventually.
21.02.2022 SANATHAN DAS FIND SHELTER AT WHITE DOVES
Sanathan Das from Chennai being homeless and without a job has been requesting us for shelter at White Doves while being a beneficiary of the distribution of food . Today he joins the family.

Update: 12th May 2022: Sanathan Das wanted to take up a job now since he felt he is capable of fending for himself.
We bid him adieu and wished him well..
